Hi, I’m Dominic and I’m a recovering phone addict.
If you’re familiar with “The Addiction Manifesto” by JR Weaver, you would know that JR wrote that book as a way to process his own thoughts and keep himself aligned with his mission of sobriety. Although my situation is not quite as dire, I started this blog for many of the same reasons. First and foremost, this blog helps me explore my subconscious through creative expression, and to guide myself through the process of cell phone detachment. I’ve seen decent success with this pursuit but mostly just enjoy journaling and venting about the odd behavior I notice in others; mirroring my own of course.
I started becoming annoyed seeing people walking on the sidewalk with their eyes glued to their phones. It was driving me nuts. I couldn’t stop noticing it and I knew had to do something. Having close encounters with addiction my entire life, I immediately drew the connection that people are “dependent and/or attached” to their cell phones, hence the term “phone addict”.
In the real world I’m quite a gentle person, but when I write I become a little sharp around the edges, shall we say. This is done intentionally for two reasons. One – its fun. Two – it helps to get the point across. These are my opinions, yes, but please don’t take anything I write too seriously.
If i can inspire one person that’s a win in my books. So keep on fighting the good fight and subscribe for updates whenever I post!
